Official Rules
Last Updated – September 16th, 2024

All users are to read and follow these rules to avoid the punishment of kick, mute or ban. If for any reason a rule needs to be added or modified, the Québec Games administration team has the right to do so. It falls onto the responsibility of our players to be aware when said changes occur, thus it is recommended to review our rules regularly in case of any updates. Thank you for choosing Québec Games, enjoy your stay!

Rules

The below infractions are offenses that we believe may ruin or affect in a negative way other players’ gameplay experience. By following a few simple rules, we can all help make Québec Games stay a great place to play on.

Blocking
Blocking pathways or doors, by using either indestructible props or your character’s body is not permitted.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
This prevents other players from entering or leaving specific areas.

Negative Behavior
All players have the right to be spoken to or addressed in a friendly, respectful manner.

Behavior which is not allowed:
  •  Discrimination – negative comments about skin colour, gender, or other personal qualities

  •  Abusive language, inappropriate topics or jokes, misleading information
  •  Insulting other players in any way
  •  Trolling players
  •  Encouraging violence or hatred towards other players
  •  Advertising – posting links or IP addresses to other servers
  •  Spamming – pasting the same message over and over
  •  Microphone spamming – screaming, loud background noises, playing music or repetitive sounds
  •  Talking about self-harm, or other deeply negative experiences
  •  Creating toxicity and/or general disturbance among our communities
  •  Threatening to DDoS the server – this offense will result in a permanent ban
  •  Arguing on a staff member’s decision over an extended period of time

▶ Why do we have this rule?
We aim for every server to be a fun and safe place for players to communicate and interact with each other respectfully. Our chat environment is a good way to talk to other players, discover new friends and have fun while playing the game.

Teaming
Cross-teaming is not permitted, specifically when players are waiting for a new round to start. This is when a Sheriff and a Murderer both allow each other to live.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
Teaming with a murderer or a sheriff considerably lower other bystanders’ chance of survival, which hinders gameplay experience.

Delaying
As the Murderer, delaying rounds by sparing other players, or simply doing nothing is not permitted.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
Dead players may be waiting for a new round to start so they can play, and players that do not assume their role hinders experience for other players. This rule applies in all circumstances with the exception of the specific scenario where no players are waiting for a new round to start (ex.: Map achievements).

Jukebox Abuse
Our servers feature jukeboxes on all maps, which can be used to play YouTube videos or songs. However, please use appropriate songs.

Type of videos which is not allowed:
  •  Ear piercing videos (commonly referred as “ear rape”)

  •  Racist videos
  •  Hate speeches

▶ Why do we have this rule?
This rule is in place to provide a positive in-game experience for all players and provide a calm environment where inappropriate concepts and themes are not shared publicly.

Speaking Other Languages
Speaking another language than English is not permitted and is to be avoided at most.

Note: This rule does not apply on Doki Doki Murder.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
We want to ensure everyone understands each other, be it in voice or text chat.

Boosting
Gaining stats, points or items in an illegitimate way is not permitted. This includes, but is not limited, to the purposeful use of alternate accounts (trading items to main account), or avoiding the AFK detector in an attempt to gain an unfair stat or point advantage.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
This rule prevents an unfair stat or point advantage over other players.

Exploiting
Exploiting, or making use of bugs at your advantage is not permitted. This includes map glitches, or areas that are impossible to get to in normal gameplay circumstances (at default velocity without the help of props or other players and out of reach of the Murderer), prop glitches (i.e. prop surfing, prop killing), or any other glitches that are susceptible of giving yourself an unfair advantage over other players.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
Players have the right to play in an environment which is fair and free of cheating and exploiting.

Player Safety & Privacy
Threatening user safety is a serious offense on Québec Games, as we do not take this lightly. As a Garry’s Mod server, we do not have any control over your account. However, player safety is very important to us, so where possible we take steps to help protect our players from being tricked or otherwise subjected to scams.

There are various ways that a player’s security could be affected. Some are listed below:
  •  Staff impersonation – pretending to be a staff member

  •  Sharing security or personal information without consent
  •  Falsifying information about other players
  •  Unauthorized account access
  •  Trading items or accounts for real currency
  •  Phishing or otherwise malicious links
  •  Scamming

To safeguard yourself we recommend that you use strong passwords, use 2FA, and do not share your information with other users.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
Players have the right to play in an environment which is safe from phishing, doxing, scamming and item selling.

Cheating
We have a zero tolerance policy against cheating and if you are found to do so, you will be permanently banned from the server.

What is considered cheating:
  •  Exploiting

  •  Bunny Hop or other movement enhancement scripts
  •  Hacks
  •  Modifications of your client that allow you to gain an unfair advantage over others

▶ Why do we have this rule?
Players have the right to play in an environment which is fair and free of cheating and exploiting.

Spectator Abuse
Deliberately and constantly switching to Spectators, then back to the Players team in the sole purpose of avoiding the Murderer is not permitted.

▶ Why do we have this rule?
This rule is in place to support the fairness of the Murder gamemode and allow Murderers to get the full benefits of their kills.

Warnings & Bans

Each time you break one of the rules listed above, you may receive a warning for it, depending on what rule you broke. In-game, you can easily check how many warnings you currently have by typing !warnings in chat. A warning can be displayed in green or red, depending on whether that warning is active or not. Active warnings are green, while inactive warnings are red. Each warning expires (turns red) after 24 hours.

If you’ve never been banned in the past
2 Active warnings = 3 days or 4320 minutes ban
4 Warnings over 14 days = 5 days or 7200 minutes ban

If you’ve been banned in the past
This is only applicable if at least one of your ban(s) reason mentions “X Warnings in X Days”

2 Active warnings = 7 days or 10080 minutes ban
4 Warnings over 28 days = 14 days or 20160 minutes ban

A staff member’s decision is final

As staff members, we’re all required to follow the exact same rules that apply to regular players, however we also deal with moderation on the server. Having to deal with complaints about one topic over and over is ridiculous. If you’re having an issue with a staff member’s final decision, please create a ticket and a staff member of a higher ranking will handle it.
